Justice Court is adding a new Deputy Clerk position!

The Deputy Clerk will complete tasks necessary for the daily function of the Justice Court. Deputy Clerk will be the first point of contact for the public and shall provide clerical support in a respectable Judicial Office. Deputy Clerk will track and managing compliance by interacting with defendants and collaborating with multiple community entities/professionals. The Deputy Clerk will be tasked with ensuring the Court runs smoothly and is open to the public during business hours.

Job tasks and expectations:

  • file & e-file documents,
  • shredding, scanning, data entry,
  • copying, faxing, emailing,
  • preparing and checking mail daily,
  • scheduling court hearings,
  • acting as courier between departments,
  • answering phones, assisting the public,
  • tracking defendant compliance with Court Orders,
  • sending monthly correspondence letters to defendants,
  • taking payments and tracking receipts,
  • maintain detailed and organized records,
  • communicate with community providers regarding defendants after sentencing,
  • generate and send provider referrals,
  • assisting the public and providing resources as needed,
  • and any other tasks necessary to support the Court Clerk and Justice of the Peace.

Minimum qualification:

  • Must be over 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma (2+ years of college desired)
  • 2-3 years work experience
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week, 8-5 Monday through Friday
  • Must pass legal background check
  • Minimum typing of 40 wpm, with minor error ratio
